Public Transport Priority
For several years now, the French Motor Sports Federation has put the preservation of the environment at the center of its priorities in all its championships and motor sport events. Thus, promoting the public transport is an additional step towards a greener Rally!
In 2011, the findings were that 56% of the CO2 emissions were caused by the movement of the spectators. The French Motorsports Federation has decided to increase its efforts to reduce these greenhouse gases emissions.
In 2012, priority is principally given to public transport! The Rally France-Alsace 2012 partners are being called up to offer better access conditions to the spectators during the special stages.
The website www.motors-travel.com, ownership of the Tour Operator “Évènements & Voyages (link)”, offers for instance shuttles especially chartered to reach the stages on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All in all, it is 15 buses, benefiting from privileged accesses to the special stages, which offer the inhabitants of Besançon, Bâle, Fribourg, Baden-Baden… (and much more) the possibility to live the Rally France-Alsace 2012!
Moreover, thanks to the implication of the Région Alsace and the SNCF, an effort is made to facilitate your journeys in Alsace during the Rally. More than a dozen extra trains with a unitary capacity of 520 seats will circulate on Sunday 7th October, and will serve almost 15 different localities!
Timings and intermediary stops have been specifically though to let the public move between the diverse stages of the day. Beyond its multimodal feature (trains, buses, trams), it allows its users an unlimited number of trips during the day in question, and favors small hops (for example between Kurtzenhouse, Bischwiller and Haguenau).
